Notice of Special Meeting of Council

March 23, 2026

TAKE NOTICE that the Municipality of Red Lake invites all interested persons to attend a Special Meeting of Council for the purpose of discussing the revisions that may be required as part of a proposed update to the Municipality’s Official Plan, as will be documented in the Draft Official Plan Policy Directions and Zoning Recommendations Report being prepared, pursuant to the requirements of 26(3) of the Planning Act, RSO 1990, as amended.

The Special Meeting of Council will be held:

Monday, March 23, 2026 – 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM

An Official Plan provides direction for the growth and development of the community and where land uses (e.g., residential, commercial, industrial, parks) should be located.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The Municipality of Red Lake is undertaking the legislated review of its Official Plan as required by the Planning Act. The Municipality’s current Official Plan was approved by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing in 2015. The Official Plan Review will update and refine the goals, objectives, policies, and Schedules (i.e., maps) of the Official Plan to ensure that it is consistent with the Provincial Planning Statement, 2024, and reflects matters of local interest.

The Official Plan Review process was initiated in Fall 2025. To date, an introductory presentation to the Committee of the Whole was made on October 14, 2025, and an in-person Public Open House was held in Red Lake on November 6, 2025. An online questionnaire was made available from October 6, 2025, to November 6, 2025, through the online platform, Survey Monkey. Public feedback received has, and will continue to be, considered in the development of updated policies in the Municipality’s Official Plan. The Special Meeting of Council will enable further opportunity for the public to speak to revisions that may be required as part of the Official Plan Review for the Municipality. The Draft Official Plan will be prepared following this Special Meeting to incorporate any feedback received from members of the public and Council.

THE SUBJECT LANDS include all lands located within the Municipality of Red Lake municipal boundary. Accordingly, no key map is provided.

ANY PERSON may attend the Special Meeting of Council and/or make written or verbal representation regarding what revisions may be required as part of a proposed update to the Municipality’s Official Plan. Please register with Brenda Gignac by Friday March 20, 2026, if you wish to participate in the public meeting.

The Draft Official Plan Policy Directions and Zoning Recommendations Report will be available for public review on the project webpage by March 16, 2026.
