The
Recognition, Role and Mandate of the Advisory Committee
Recognition
- Recognize
the values and visions of the Municipality as defined in the
Strategic Plan.
- Recognize
that landfill and environmental services cannot be solely provided
through taxation.
- Recognize
that the residents of Red Lake require an affordable and efficient
waste diversion program that provides for long term life of the
current landfill site.
Role
- Be
concerned with a community awareness program that enlightens the
users or the importance of waste diversion.
- Be
concerned with designing and recommending policy and procedures
pertaining to landfill and environmental practices.
- Be
concerned with community and user groups or individuals who may wish
to approach the committee with a related matter or issue.
- Be
concerned with changes in the trends of area needs and requirements
in landfill and environmental matters.
- Be
concerned that any policies developed and recommendations are
consistent and applicable to all municipal by-laws and provincial
legislation.
Mandate
- The
Committee should endeavor to identify local needs, develop local
solutions and make recommendations to Council that encourages an
array of modern environmental services. The Committee shall
endeavor to attain a waste diversion rate of 65%.
