NOTICE: Municipal Recycling Program
The Municipality of Red Lake will not be implementing the curb side recycling program on August 1, 2010. A Special Meeting of Council will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., in the Municipal Council Chambers to further discuss the comments and the Draft Waste Management By-law.
Starting Wednesday, August 4, 2010 all residents may dispose of their recycling products at the Recycling Transfer Station at the Waste Disposal Site. There will be no charge for this service. If you have any questions or comments please contact Brian Anderson.

The purpose of this Amendment to the Official Plan for the Municipality of Red Lake (By‐law 554‐05) is to change the designation of the subject site from ‘Natural Resources’ (NR) to ‘Townsite Residential’ (TR) in order to allow the development of residential lots within a registered plan of subdivision. The Balmertown Waste Disposal Site (WDS) is currently undergoing upgrades to facilitate possible recycling and waste transfer options. The new site will include a recycling building and a household hazardous waste transfer building. Click here to check out the new WDS plans.

Long Term Waste Management Strategy Kontzamanis Graumann Smith MacMillan Inc. (KGS Group) was contracted by The Corporation of the Municipality of Red Lake to prepare a Long Term Waste Management Strategy (LTWMS) for the Municipality of Red Lake. This report summarizes the proposed LTWMS, which includes a review of the current waste stream, proposed waste reduction options, and implementation recommendations.
